4 The setter has a long, hard, shiny coat. On the limbs and body, the hair is longer, and the head and muzzle are shorter. The standard color is assumed to be mahogany with a golden sheen. Black spots and blotches are not permitted, while white patches on the face, chest, neck and fingers are acceptable.
5 The dog is slender, has light bone, and in the stance it is stretched like a string. The combination of long hair, elongated body, small head looks very harmonious and gives the Irish setter an aristocrat.
6 The soft, hanging ears give the dog a special charm, and the kind, expressive dark brown eyes betray her kindness and intelligence.
