The Caucasian Shepherd Dog is a breed that originated in the Caucasus. It was used to protect property or herd from attacks by predators and enemies. Today, Caucasian Shepherd Dogs protect the private property of the owner and his family. Caucasian shepherd dogs are also called North Caucasian wolfhounds. The breed appeared in the south of Russia in the steppe around the Caucasian ridge. Dogs have gone through natural selection from ancient wild animals to modern Caucasians.
