A few months ago I wrote an article headed ‘WHAT CAN POISON YOUR DOG?’ listing all poisons (including liquid
poisons), the odour of which effects dogs, never realising that my own dog could be a victim.I went to the UK for a few days, and in the early hours of the morning my sister phoned to inform me that my older dog Tanya could not walk. She had made contact with the emergency vet who was unable to call to the house. I immediately telephoned the vet who reconfirmed that she did not attend houses, insisting that my dog was taken to her surgery. The problem was threefold. My sister could not pick up the dog, she could not drive, and no taxi would take the dog. I then made contact with Dr Danilo Arvis the mobile
vet who arrived at my house within 15 minutes. My dog was dying from Toxic poisoning. Earlier in the day a small quantity of disinfectant called Zotal had been used on an outside drain; the toxic odour was killing her. Dr Danilo immediately went to work and saved Tanya’s life. My dog will never be the same again, she has now lost her balance, but she is alive thanks to Dr Danilo. Despite incomplete references by other people to my previous article on Poisons, I have decided to once again publish a comprehensive list of poisons to make you more aware.

Check out with your vet about their emergency service and system.
Ask your vet what would happen if your dog was ill at 3.a.m.in the morning and you could not come to the surgery? Ask questions, many questions. If it can happen to me, be assured it might happen to
you.
