The breed of Maltese lapdog has accompanied a person for many centuries, changing names and countries. Incredibly, the most ancient record (about 500 BC) of these animals was found on an amphora from the Etruscan city of Vulchi (Greece). The dog is depicted there with the caption “Μελιταιε” (Melitaie). Why not learn a little bit more about the joyful Maltese?
