The Bedlington Terrier was originally bred as a hunting dog. In some qualities, he was not inferior to large dogs, and in some he even surpassed them. At the beginning of the 19th century, exhibitions became popular and it was at this time that breeders became interested in representatives of the breed. When breeders took up these dogs, they turned out to be specimens with a more sophisticated appearance and docile character.
