From as early as the 16th century, Papillons have been featured prominently in the paintings of many artists, from the Italian Master known as Titan (also known as Tiziano Vecelli or Tiziano to Vecellio) to France’s François Clouet and Dutch portrait painter Johannes Vermeer.
