German Shepherds are surprisingly loyal to their owner, intelligent and noble dogs. Appearing in Germany at the end of the 19th century, German Shepherds were mainly acquired as assistants in driving and grazing livestock. But their innate qualities - poise, obedience, the quick reaction in non-standard situations made German shepherds excellent service dogs, guides for blind and visually impaired people.
