History of Origin
The Designer breed was bred in the United States in the early 2000s to produce a tame dog with good intelligence and training potential. As you know, the Toy Poodle is one of the breeds with the highest intelligence, and in combination with the natural charisma and beauty of Yorkshire Terriers, Yorkipoo receives the highest points as a companion for the family.
Poodle Story
With his regal posture, quirky grooming, and proud air, many mistakenly believe that the Poodle originated in France. The Poodle was bred as a Water Retriever for duck hunters in Germany. The Poodle has even been used as a truffle hunter!
Later he became a popular breed among the nobility of France and other parts of Europe.
The American Kennel Club recognized the breed in 1887, and in the early twentieth century, the Toy Poodle was first bred in the United States as a companion for city dwellers. Today the Poodle is the 7th most popular breed in the US and the 22nd most popular in the UK.
History of the Yorkshire Terrier
Of course, it is not hard to understand that the Yorkshire Terrier came from Yorkshire, England. But there is an interesting piece of history that predates the breed’s beginnings. Scottish workers brought black and red Terriers with them when they headed south to work in cotton mills and mines. Due to the small size of the dogs, they were well suited for crawling in tight places in these mills and mines and killing rodents.
Some believe that this breed was blended with the Maltese and Skye Terriers, which gave us the Yorkshire Terrier we know today.
Like the Poodle, Yorkies climbed the social hierarchy when they became fashionable dogs for ladies. According to the Kennel Club UK, a dog named Ben Huddersfield founded the breed in 1865. The American Kennel Club recognized the breed in 1885. Today it is the 9th most popular breed in the US and 15th most popular in the UK.
To this day, they are still an attractive breed!
Yorkipoo Appearance 
These little dogs are an exact replica of teddy bears with soft, curly hair and beaded eyes. The Yorkipoo coat is either more curly with ringlets, or simply wavy. The color palette of wool varies depending on the parental data: all shades of brown, as well as white, black, and tan.
The Yorkipoo’s muzzle is strong, slightly pointed, ears are of various types: from standing to hanging.
With their small size, these fluffy lumps will feel equally good both in a spacious private house and in small apartments.
Yorkipoo Temperament
Despite its small size, Yorkiрoo is a very lively and intelligent ponytail that attracts everyone’s attention.
Thanks to their mental abilities, these puppies can learn very quickly and even enjoy tricks and agility training.
Ideal Home for Yorkipoo
Yorkipoo can be a loving addition for families at all stages of life. It is an active breed that enjoys both live plays and cuddling alike.
Since this breed is very energetic, you should have enough time to play and practice with the dog. What you definitely shouldn’t do with a Yorkipoo is leaving them alone for long periods of time, this negatively affects the emotional health of the dog.
And besides, your pet will bark incessantly during your long absence. Therefore, if you are often away from home, consider if other family members can work with your pet, or perhaps you should reconsider your daily routine. Also, with frequent departures, you should think about who will look after the dog, because leaving it at home alone, even for one full day, is unacceptable.
If your family has children over 3-4 years old, great, they are most likely to become best friends with a ponytail. Be sure to teach your children to be gentle with the dog.
Basic Rules for Feeding Yorkipoo
- Feed on schedule and in a specific location. A puppy under the age of 3 months should be fed 5-6 times a day. If the Yorkipoo is already 3 months old, the food is reduced to 4 times a day. For a pet that has reached 6–12 months, it is enough to fill the bowl three times a day.
- The food bowl should sit comfortably at chest level.
- Train your dog not to ask for food from the table.
- If there is more than one dog in the apartment, each of the animals should be assigned an individual plate.
- After eating, it is recommended to thoroughly wash and remove the bowl.
- Provide free access to clean water.
- Make sure that the host’s dinner and breakfast do not coincide with the feeding time of the Yorkipoo.
- Do not mix dairy and meat foods.
