A unique appearance and wonderful character will not leave anyone indifferent!

Let’s get to know this amazing designer breed!

Appearance

Each Corhuahua puppy has a unique appearance. Someone looks more like one parent, someone on both at once. To understand what external data can be expected from this breed, let’s look at the characteristics of the parents.

The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is a stocky, compact, and sturdy dog. The length of the body (from the withers to the base of the tail) is approximately 40% longer than the height from the withers to the ground (25-30 cm).
The weight of the animal is proportional to its height and is up to 12.7 kg for females and not more than 13.6 kg for males. Show representatives of the breed should have a lower weight – about 11.4 kg and 12.4 kg, respectively. The color of the Welsh Corgi is red, light red, black, and tan with possible light markings on the chest, neck, and legs (tricolor), sable. The breed standard allows white markings on the head and muzzle.

The appearance of modern Chihuahuas is partly the heritage of the ancient Techichi, partly the product of many years of experiments in mating animals with representatives of other breeds. So, for example, in the blood of today’s Chihuahuas, you can find the genes of Toy Terriers, Spitz, Papillons, and Pinschers. According to the type of coat, Chihuahuas are divided into long-haired and short-haired. The former has a soft silky coat with a smooth or slightly wavy structure with a small amount of undercoat. The longest guard hair grows in the neck, ears, paws, and the back of the limbs. In short-haired dogs, the awn is smooth and short, close to the body. Longer hair on the neck and tail, the shortest on the head and ears. Coat color can be anything except merle.

Personality

The temperament of these dogs may differ from each puppy, but there are traits that are inherent in almost all. As a rule, the character of these dogs is cheerful, lively, and benevolent. Dogs are distinguished by innate intelligence and loyalty. The owner’s family is treated with love and awe. Loyal to strangers and animals, get along well with cats. They are born nannies who look after children and protect them. They adapt well to city life. Dogs of the breed love to walk for a long time, adore games. They know how to keep their distance from people who are not too disposed to dogs while remaining friendly. They feel the mood of others well and know exactly when it is better to keep their distance. These dogs are often silent, giving a voice either when meeting acquaintances, or when meeting the owner or guests. The breed is contraindicated for weak-tempered people: dogs are prone to overeating, and it is difficult to resist the tricks of a charming and cunning pet.

Training

Correct building of the hierarchy is the key to successful interaction with your pet. If you have not shown the qualities of a leader, Corhuahua becomes the main one. In education and training, you need firmness, perseverance, consistency, but without physical cruelty. The puppy should not be afraid of activities. Otherwise, instead of interaction and harmony in relationships, you will go into a state of war, from which you will not be able to get out on your own.

It is best to start the lesson before feeding the dog. So he will quickly learn his name, develop reflex reactions to the commands. By about 7 weeks, the pupil should be as socialized as possible. At this age, he is ready to be trained as an adult dog. Start an obedience course – simple commands in different places and conditions. Be sure to praise your baby throughout the lesson, encourage with a treat. One of the ways to train is through games. Don’t let your puppy look for something to do on its own. Hide-and-seek, catch-up, learning various tricks establish friendly relations between the owner and the dog, help train him and develop useful skills.

Care

Too frequent water procedures do not in the best way affect the condition of the dog’s coat, making it brittle and dry, therefore, short-haired dogs are bathed no more than once every 3-4 months, and long-haired dogs – once every 1-2 months. In the process of bathing, the ears of the animal are covered with cotton swabs to prevent water from getting inside. Dry the wool with a towel or hairdryer.

Brush the Corhuahua with a soft brush every 2-3 days. The secretions that accumulate in the corners of the dog’s eyes are removed with a cotton pad soaked in water or cool tea. The ears are supposed to be examined once a week. The contamination accumulated in them is removed with the help of veterinary lotion and a cotton swab. The nails are cut every 7-10 days. Carefully monitor your dog’s mouth, removing plaque that accumulates in it with a cotton swab.

Health

Corhuahua is prone to some of the same conditions that Chihuahuas and Pembroke Welsh Corgi also experience. While most are generally healthy, some may be prone to some health problems, so it is important to maintain good care and get regular veterinary checkups. Some of the more common health problems that Corhuahua suffers from include:

  • Eye problems
  • Patellar luxation
  • Joint issues
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Epilepsy
  • Von Willebrands

Conclusion

Corhuahua is a good fit for almost all owners who are willing to devote enough time to it, even if it is the first dog. Someone who is ready to take responsibility for it. Who can be categorical in education, but at the same time shows a lot of care and affection. For owners who are looking not only for a beautiful dog but a real friend who is always waiting at home and bored without him. Corhuahua will get along well in a family with children, teenagers, or the elderly. Also, it will become a good companion for active people involved in various sports. In any case, the dog will adapt to the rhythm of life of the owners!
