Appearance

The appearance of the Daimaraner, like all designer dog breeds, is difficult to predict in advance. This pet will have the traits of both parents to a greater or lesser extent. To understand what to expect from the appearance of these dogs, let’s look at the characteristics of the parents.

Dachshund

The Dachshund is a squat dog of compact structure with well-developed lean muscles, an elongated body, and short legs. Despite the anatomical structure, it is very flexible and mobile. The oblique body length refers to the height as 1.7-1.8 to 1, that is, the length is almost twice the height. The head is elongated, tapering evenly towards the nose. The bridge of the nose is long, narrow, slightly arched. The skull is flat. Dachshund does not belong to “slobbering” dogs, its lips fit tightly, the jaws are well developed, the teeth are complete with the correct bite. The eyes are oval, medium in size, set wide apart. Eye color is dark or light brown; in marbled dogs, partly or completely blue is allowed but undesirable. The ears are long with rounded tips set high, the front edges close to the cheekbones. The neck is long-held high. The withers are pronounced. The topline merges harmoniously into a slightly sloping croup. The back is straight or slightly sloping. The loin is long. The croup is long and wide. The chest is well developed. oval section. The ribs are laid back. When positioned correctly, the front leg covers the lowest point of the sternum. The belly is tucked up. The tail is of medium length, tapering towards the tip. Legs are very strong, well-muscled, short. The shins and thighs form a 90-degree angle. According to the type of coat, three varieties are distinguished: smooth-haired, long-haired, wire-haired. Several colors are allowed:

Solid (red, fawn, reddish-yellow without admixture of black; single white marks are allowed);
Bicolor (black or brown with reddish-brown or fawn markings);
Marble (the main color is red, black, or gray, on which beige or gray spots are randomly scattered);
Brindle (red or fawn with dark brindle stripes).
Boar or wolf color (found in wire-haired Dachshunds).

Weimaraner

These are large dogs 57-70 cm in height and 25-40 kg in weight. Minimum values are undesirable by the standard. The breed is distinguished by its athletic constitution, muscular body, sinewy. The Weimaraner dog is long or short-haired. The withers are clearly visible. The chest is massive, but not wide. The abdomen is moderately pulled in. Head proportional to the body, wedge-shaped. The tubercle on the back of the head is weak. The transition of the nose to the forehead is poorly marked. The mouth is strong, the canines are tightly closed, the bite is scissor. The cheekbones are powerful. The eyes are medium, rounded; the outer corners are slightly raised towards the ears. The color changes with age from azure blue in puppies to amber in adult dogs. Llama pads and claws are very dense, gray in color. Paws sinewy, muscular, strong. The tail is thick at the root, tapering towards the tip. The standard allows three types of painting:

silvery gray;
light gray;
dark gray (mouse).

Personality

Daimaraner is inseparable from the owner, he is ready to spend every minute with him. Sometimes they get so used to their loved one that they can experience prolonged separation inadequately, up to destructive behavior. Therefore, you will have to take a dog with you on vacation, and leaving the animal alone every day (if you are the alone owner and spend the whole day at work) is highly discouraged. The Daimaraner has a high energy level, which is not surprising – after all, both parent breeds are born hunters, from which the following circumstance follows. Namely – his hunting instincts and excellent sense of smell. If you go for a walk, remember that the dog will most likely try to hunt any small animals within its reach. It is extremely difficult to get rid of this, and if you let her off the leash, for example, when you are on a picnic in the forest, there is a chance that the dog will simply run away for a very long walk – to look for living creatures in the forest. And you have to look for it. The attitude towards children is ambiguous. If this is a child from his own family, he does not test the patience of a dog and knows how to behave, there will be no problems. However, children under six years old should not be left alone with these pets. Daimaraner is a very intelligent breed, understands people well, and knows how to “think with your own head”.

Care

Daimaraner is not too demanding to care for. Brushing correctly once a week will keep their short, sleek hair clean and healthy. Eyes are cleaned daily, ears 2-3 times a week, claws are trimmed 3 times a month, the dog is bathed at least once a week.

Food for the dog should be selected based on the weight of the dog. Veterinarian consultation is desirable.
